HiKR Station Offers First Taste of Modern Korean Culture

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) officially opened HiKR Station on May 29 at Incheon International Airport Terminal 1, unveiling a new cultural gateway for international visitors arriving in Korea.

Designed as a dynamic cultural platform, HiKR Station introduces travelers to the vibrancy of modern Korea through immersive and interactive content.

The name “HiKR” blends a cheerful greeting (“Hi”) with the country code “KR,” and builds on the branding of HiKR Ground, a similar tourism hub in central Seoul opened by KTO in 2022.

Targeting Gen Z and Alpha travelers—often referred to as digital natives—HiKR Station offers a variety of multi-sensory experiences. These include:

▲HiKR POSE – a space designed to relieve travel fatigue through playful photo ops; ▲HiKR SHOT – a self-photo zone featuring iconic Korean landmarks and food-themed backdrops; ▲HiKR STAGE – a content booth where visitors can record Shorts alongside K-pop performances; ▲HiKR PICK – a hands-on area where visitors can participate in activities to win themed merchandise; ▲BEAUTY UP – a makeup and dress-up zone highlighting Korean beauty culture.

Trained staff members, known as the Hi-Ten Crew, are stationed throughout the facility to assist guests, take photos, and engage travelers in K-themed quizzes and games—offering memorable first and last impressions of Korea.

“HiKR Station goes beyond the role of a typical tourist center. It curates Korea’s first impression for visitors,” said Acting President Seo Young-chung of KTO. “We’re committed to continuously reflecting traveler trends and Korean cultural content to make Korea a must-return destination.”

To celebrate its launch, HiKR Station is hosting a special five-day event called Excitement Week from May 29 to June 2.

The program features live DJ sets, dance crew performances, and exclusive events for global K-pop fandoms, including fan voting and Korean travel souvenirs.

HiKR Station is now open daily to all passengers at Incheon International Airport Terminal 1.
