Silla Cultural Festival: Double the Fun with Art and Festivities
Silla Fantasy Fashion Show Debuts at the 2024 Silla Cultural Festival
Gyeongju’s renowned cultural and artistic festival, the 51st Silla Cultural Festival, is back with fresh updates for 2024.
This year, the event will be divided into two parts: the Silla Art Festival, held on September 28 and 29, and the Silla Cultural Festival, which will take place from October 11 to 13.
This year’s edition celebrates the successful bid to host the 2025 APEC Summit and aims to elevate the festival’s prestige in honor of this achievement.
One of the major changes for 2024 is the relocation of the opening ceremony from Woljeonggyo to Daereungwon, where the Silla Fantasy Fashion Show will make its debut.
The fashion show will feature models in traditional Silla-inspired costumes, enhanced by media art, light shows, and drones for a spectacular multimedia performance. In addition, a food truck zone has been newly established near Daereungwon, along with a QR-based ordering and payment system for enhanced convenience.
The Moonlight Market, located at Bonghwangdae Plaza, will offer visitors an atmospheric shopping experience with food trucks serving dishes like tteokbokki, stir-fried pork, kebabs, and more.
Meanwhile, the Hwarang Hip-Hop Festa and Silk Road Festa, targeting younger audiences, will feature popular hip-hop artists like BewhY and Zion.T, alongside a variety of street art performances.
This year’s festival will also introduce an ESG Zone with eco-friendly activities and a pet-friendly area, reflecting a commitment to sustainability.
Gyeongju Mayor Joo Nak-young stated, “The 2024 Silla Cultural Festival is filled with high-quality content to thank citizens for their support in hosting the APEC Summit. We invite everyone to enjoy the beautiful autumn season and create lasting memories at this year’s festival.”
