The 11th Korea International Photo Festival Opens— Exhibitions Range from Documentary to Photobook Narratives

The 11th Korea International Photo Festival will be held from April 22 to April 27, 2025, at the Hangaram Design Museum in the Seoul Arts Center, Seocho-gu, Seoul.

Featuring the theme “DNA of Photographs,” this year’s event brings together more than 120 artists from both Korea and abroad, presenting over 1,200 photographic works across multiple exhibition halls.

The festival has steadily established itself as one of Korea’s leading visual art events, continuously evolving to reflect contemporary issues and photographic trends.

This year’s main exhibition includes contributions from internationally acclaimed artists such as Jan Pohribný from the Czech Republic, Lee Jeonglok from Korea, and Marcin Ryczek from Poland.

The exhibition is divided into several thematic sections, including “The Documentary: In Its Name,” “The Hidden Side of Cities,” “One Hundred Views from Chinese Photographers,” and “I Live in the Mountains Because I Love Them.”

Other curated exhibitions include “Viewfinder of KIPF,” “Korea Photo,” “In Full Color,” and “All That Photobook.”

In celebration of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and Japan, a special Korea-Japan exchange exhibit will also be held.

International participants include Yang Yankang from China and Yasumoto Kawai from Japan, while Korea will be represented by a diverse range of artists including Lee Jae-gap, Park Chan-ho, Jay An, Jung Young-shin, Kim Ki-hwan, Kim Eun-jung, Kim Jong-beom, Lee Kyung-hwa, Lee Ji-sun, and Han Sang-mu.

Art talks will be held throughout the event. Lee Jeonglok will speak on April 22 at 2:30 p.m., followed by Jay An at 2:00 p.m., Park Chan-ho at 2:30 p.m., and Jung Young-shin at 3:00 p.m. on April 26.

The festival is directed by Chunho Won and supported by Yang Hyejung as a curatorial collaborator, with editorial contribution from Yao Baolong.

The Korea International Photo Festival continues to expand its artistic scope while maintaining a strong focus on cultural exchange and contemporary discourse.

Admission is 15,000 KRW for adults and 12,000 KRW for students.

The exhibition will be open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The official opening ceremony will be held on April 22 at 1:00 p.m.
