Jindo Sea Parting Festival Opens March 29 – Witness the Miracle!
Jindo Sea Parting Festival Returns with Exciting Events
The 2025 Jindo Sea Parting Festival, celebrating the nationally designated Scenic Site No. 9, the Jindo Mysterious Sea Route, will take place from March 29 to April 1 in Jindo, South Korea.

This unique natural phenomenon occurs due to tidal changes, creating a 2km-long path between Hoedong-ri in Gogun-myeon and Modo-ri in Uisin-myeon.
Every year, thousands of visitors from around the world gather to witness and experience this extraordinary event, often referred to as the “modern-day miracle of Moses.”

During the festival, the sea route remains fully open for about an hour, allowing visitors to walk across the ocean floor.
In addition to the sea parting experience, the festival will feature a variety of cultural, performance, and hands-on programs.
Key events include the Mysterious Sea Route Walking Experience, Jindo Art Beach, Saebit Saegil Parade, Torchlight Parade, Treasure Island Modo Exploration, and Hongju Red Road Adventure.
The festival will also host musical performances, cultural exhibitions, and interactive events, including the Miracle Concert, Traditional Jindo Cultural Performances, Youth Dance and Singing Competitions, Jindo Dog Agility Sports, and an International Academic Symposium.
Visitors can also enjoy engaging in hands-on activities such as children’s play zones, traditional Korean cultural experiences, pottery-making, personalized mug painting, and making “Grandmother Ppong” character blocks.
To attract global visitors, the festival will offer special events for international tourists, including the Foreigners’ K-pop Singing Contest, Colorful Jindo Parade, and the Foreigners’ Turmeric Makgeolli Drinking Contest.
This year, the sea parting is expected to be most visible on March 30 at 6:10 PM (-29 tidal level) and March 31 at 6:50 PM (-36 tidal level), with the widest and longest path forming during these times. However, for safety reasons, all activities on the morning of April 1 will be restricted.
A representative from the Jindo Festival Organizing Committee stated, “The Jindo Sea Parting Festival is not just a natural phenomenon, but a cultural and historical experience that showcases the beauty of Jindo’s traditions. This year, we have prepared a more diverse program to ensure visitors have an unforgettable experience.”
The festival is free of charge, and more information can be found on the official Jindo Sea Parting Festival website or by contacting Jindo County Office at ☎061-540-3408.
