Okpo Great Victory Festival 2025
Reliving the Battle of Okpo through Music, Fireworks, and Parades
The city of Geoje is preparing to host the 2025 Okpo Great Victory Festival from June 13 to June 15, a patriotic cultural and artistic event held annually in mid-June.

This festival honors the historic Battle of Okpo, the first naval victory of the Korean forces during the 1592 Imjin War, under the command of Admiral Yi Sun-sin.

Taking place at Okpo Waterfront Park in Okpo-dong, Geoje, the festival blends solemn memorials with festive spectacles.
The main programs include a ceremonial opening performance, the Victory Procession Parade, and a large-scale musical re-enactment of the Battle of Okpo, paired with a fireworks display at sea.
Spectators can also look forward to the Black Eagles Air Show, a water bomb battle, drone light shows, and a grand closing fireworks show.
In addition to the central performances, supporting programs bring variety to the event.
These include an EDM festival, jet ski shows, and fringe performances like magic and bubble shows, as well as a choral production by the National Chorus of Korea titled “War and Peace.”
Interactive experiences are a core part of the festival, inviting public participation through activities such as “Dancing Okpo,” K-pop random play dance sessions, the Okpo Victory Golden Bell quiz, a guided historical tour of the naval battle, and themed
activities like “Finding Admiral Yi Sun-sin.”
Educational offerings include academic seminars highlighting the historical significance of the Battle of Okpo and Geoje’s heritage, as well as a choral seminar and guided historical exhibits.
Open to all and free of charge, the Okpo Great Victory Festival serves not only as a tribute to Korea’s naval history but also as a vibrant celebration of culture, community, and remembrance.
Hosted by the Geoje Foundation for Arts and Culture, the festival continues to establish itself as one of the city’s most prominent cultural events.
