Gyeongbokgung Northern Section Opens for Starlight Night Tour
2024 Gyeongbokgung Starlight Night Tour Begins September 11
The 2024 Gyeongbokgung Starlight Night Tour is scheduled to take place from September 11 to October 6 at Gyeongbokgung Palace in Jongno-gu, Seoul
This event offers a rare opportunity to explore the deepest parts of Gyeongbokgung Palace, specifically the northern section, under the serene night sky. Visitors will be guided by starlight lanterns as they discover the palace’s hidden stories and create memories filled with starlight.
The Starlight Night Tour begins with the “Doseok Surasang” experience. “Doseok” is an old term for a lunchbox, and this experience allows visitors to taste a modern interpretation of the 12-dish royal meal, traditionally served to the king and queen.
The tour includes a starlit walk through various historical sites within the palace, such as Sojubang (the royal kitchen), Jagyeongjeon, Janggo, Jibokjae, Parujeong, Geoncheonggung, and Hyangwonjeong.
At Janggo, participants can enjoy a performance related to traditional royal cuisine, while at Jibokjae and Hyangwonjeong, they can explore the history of Gyeongbokgung’s northern section, with special stories about King Gojong.
The participation fee for this event is 60,000 KRW per person, and reservations can be made through the official website.
The event is organized by the Cultural Heritage Administration’s Palaces and Tombs Division and the National Heritage Center, offering a unique experience that combines the nighttime beauty of Gyeongbokgung Palace with its rich historical significance.
