2024 Icheon Rice Culture Festival: Experience Traditional Farming Culture!

The 2024 Icheon Rice Culture Festival, where visitors can experience traditional farming culture and taste the renowned Icheon rice, will take place from October 16 to 20 in Icheon, Gyeonggi-do.

This comprehensive cultural tourism festival is centered around Icheon’s most famous specialty, rice, which was historically presented to the king. The event offers a range of programs for younger generations to experience traditional agricultural practices, while providing older visitors with a nostalgic trip down memory lane.

One of the key highlights of the festival is the ‘2,000 People, 2,000-Won Cauldron Rice’ event, where 2,000 servings of Icheon rice are cooked in a massive cauldron and served for just 2,000 won. Another popular attraction is the ‘Rainbow Rice Cake Making’, where participants can create and share a 600-meter-long rainbow-colored rice cake, symbolizing the richness of the autumn harvest.

In addition to these main attractions, the festival will feature cultural performances and exhibitions showcasing Icheon rice, rice-based products, and traditional farming tools. There will also be numerous hands-on activities for visitors, such as rice planting, threshing, and straw craft workshops, as well as puffed rice demonstrations and yeot (traditional Korean taffy) making.

Visitors can enjoy the festival free of charge at 48 Gongwon-ro, Icheon, and it promises to be a fun-filled event for families, offering a unique chance to engage with Korea’s rich agricultural heritage.
